Employee Benefits at Bay Union
At Bay Union we believe the primary role of the Employee Benefit Consultant is that of a trusted advisor to implement, manage and monitor solutions for employers. We work closely with our clients to identify, and act upon, their group insurance, group retirement savings and medical aid needs and objectives.
As such we see ourselves as your problem solver and business partners. Being totally independent, we act as both a Gatekeeper and Watchdog to service providers giving you unconflicted advice.

Group Retirement Savings
South Africa does not have a strong savings culture. A recent industry survey revealed that less than 6% of the South African population has sufficient savings to be financially secure in retirement. The need for employers to provide a cost-efficient retirement savings vehicle is therefore more important than ever. Doing so places the employer in a competitive position when it comes to recruiting and retaining employees.
It is important to note that we act solely in the best interests of our clients: we are totally independent of any of our many service providers and have no financial interest in the providers we ultimately recommend.

group insurance
No employer can prevent or protect employees from unforeseen personal hardships such as death, disability, dread disease and funeral costs. However, providing a financial cushion when unfortunate events occur, demonstrates just how much that employer cares for its employees and their families.

Group Healthcare
At Bay Union, people are at the heart of our business and taking care of their healthcare needs is a priority. We believe it is very important to ensure employees have access to private healthcare in the most cost-effective way. Due to our independence, we are able to market an array of medical products through various providers to you depending on the suitability to the needs of the employees. Our offering includes traditional Medical Aid Schemes, Gap Cover, Primary Care and Employee Assistance Programs.

Siyaphambili
A Bay Union Employee Benefit Consultants and Investment Planning Services supported SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
Bay Union has been a key and active supporter of the Siyaphambili Surf Ski Club since its establishment, by the Durban Undersea Club and Paddling Academy, in 2018. Its purpose? To facilitate the active participation of KZN youth, from disadvantaged backgrounds, within this sport.
Bay Union Employee Benefits MD, Jan Mullany, provided insight into
the rationale behind the Bay Union’s commitment to the programme:
“Bay Union Employee Benefits is committed to championing the financial and physical well-being of its clients and broader society. Siyaphambili is very aligned with this mission. Youth are enabled to engage with, and excel at surf ski paddling and to develop a life perspective based on self-determination and of endless possibilities.
Our plan going forward is to continue the current form of support, but to enhance this through further practical involvement of our expert team. One way of doing this would by supporting the “life-skills” aspect of Siyaphambili’s offering.
The BU team could share with these youth ways they can manage their personal finances – as they enter into employment or entrepreneurship – to ensure more sustainable and successful futures.
Work in progress!”
